Holiday Tree

Felt Shape Tree
It's super easy to make!

Supplies needed:
Felt Sheets in a variety of colors
Hot Glue
Velcro
Some sort of filling so that the tree is full. ( You can use pillow filling, tissue paper) be creative!

Use the images above as a guide but it's pretty self explanantory.

1. Cut the shape of your tree and hot glue the edges up until the trunk of the tree

2. Stuff the tree with a filling then finish glueing the edges of the trunk

3. Cut out your shapes in a a variety of colors

4. Place velcro on the back of each shape

There are so many things you can do with your holiday tree!
Take off all the ornaments and have your child put them back according to color and then you could try shapes.

Asking questions and giving directions can be so much fun!
Try these:
a.    Put back all the red shapes
b.    Put all the triangles back on the tree
c.    Count the range shapes
d.    How many circles do you see
e.    Where is the trunk of the tree
f.      Put all the ornaments on the bottom of the tree
g.    Can you put all the ornaments on the edge/border

The tree is double sided so have fun!
Happy Holidays!

Toddler Story Time

Morgan Hill Library
I'm not sure about you but I've always been a little hesitant to take my two year old to the library. We go to BookSmart and Barnes but have always thought about the library as a "too quiet" of a place to go.
Did you know about...

Creative and Easy Advent Calendar

Here is a very cute idea that a fellow mommy came up with!
Advent calendars are everywhere right now. You can easily buy one but I bet its not as cute or as clever as this one!

All thats required is 25 squares of paper, marker, 25 cut our circles and glue

Step 1: Take a circle and write the #1 on it
Step 2: Glue it to the center of one of the squares
Step 3: On the back of the square think of something to do, eat, etc and write it on the back so that on December 1st that gets done. For example, maybe on the 1st of December they can read a story about Santa.

Repeat these steps for all 25 days counting up to Christmas. The hardest part is coming up with the 25 things but the greatest part is that you can adapt it to any age group to make it fun!
You can store these cards in an old recipe box you probably have in your pantry. Just pull one out each day and your child will be looking forward to the next activity to help them countdown the holidays!
This activity can help with counting, listening and many other skills!

Here are pictures that detail the steps mentioned above.

Thank you Lara for sharing!

Catch Me If You Can

As the story goes...
Once upon a time a little old woman and a little old man lived in a cottage. One day the little old woman made a gingerbread man. She gave him currants for eyes and cherries for buttons. She put him in the oven to bake.
The little old woman and little old man were very hungry and wanted to eat the gingerbread man. As soon as he was cooked, the little old woman opened the oven door. The gingerbread man jumped out of the tin and ran out of the open window shouting, 'Don't eat me!'The little old woman and little old man ran after the gingerbread man.
'Stop! Stop!' they yelled. The gingerbread man did not look back. He ran on saying,
'Run, run as fast as you can! You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man!
